Xinachtli Comadres National Colectiva #MMIWG Action Campaign

We are in deep gratitude to the #MMIWG impacted families, communities, and loved ones who have suffered the pain and loss of a loved one who has gone missing or murdered. We honor the tenderness of this work and recognize that many impacted folks are on the front lines fighting for the silent stories of their loved ones. May our collective rage and grief be held and supported as we uplift this important issue. May our collective joy and love be uplifted as we do this work in honor of our loved ones. We honor and uplift the native and indigenous movement builders, weavers, healers, storytellers, activists, and advocates who have tirelessly dedicated themselves to raising awareness and advocating for solutions to eradicating gender-based violence against native and indigenous women, girls, femmes, trans, and gender expansive folks.

MMIWGR 2025 Virtual Train-the-Trainer Workshop in Empowerment-Based Community Self-Defense

As part of our ongoing MMIWGR (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Relatives) campaign, the Xinachtli Comadres National Colectiva (XCNC), in collaboration with KLBRI, recently hosted a Virtual Train-the-Trainer Workshop in Empowerment-Based Community Self-Defense.

This powerful session brought together Xinachtli Certified Facilitators from across the country to deepen their capacity to protect and uplift the sacred right to safety in our communities. Designed exclusively for trained facilitators, the workshop introduced a healing-centered, empowerment-based self-defense curriculum that can now be integrated into local círculos and community initiatives.

Facilitators left the training equipped with tools not only to teach physical defense strategies but also to build confidence, sharpen awareness, and create spaces of resilience and safety for girls, women, and gender-expansive relatives facing systemic violence.

This effort reflects our shared commitment to ending gender-based violence and honoring the lives of those lost to it. We are proud of the facilitators who participated and look forward to witnessing the ripple effects of this work across communities nationwide.

Our goal is to bolster the network’s capacity to create visibility, awareness, advocacy, and movement building around violence against native and indigenous women and girls.

We will be joined by Strong Hearted Native Women's Coalition, who will share more about the history of the MMIWGR movement, their efforts, and opportunities to become involved.

Harnessing our Collective Stories: #MMIWG A Transnational Issue

MAY 5, 2023

On Thursday, May 5th, Xinachtli Comadres National Colectiva (XCNC) will engage its network in the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Day of Action in response to the call for National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) 2022 National Week of Action for MMIW. Our campaign theme “ Harnessing our Collective Stories” will focus on uplifting and expanding upon the transnational context of violence against native and indigenous women and girls, femicides, gender-based violence and the collective stories that connect the northern and southern movements.

May 5th is National #MMIWG Day of Action and the XCNC will launch our 4-month campaign which will include a virtual awareness social media campaign, workshops, and we will also release our inaugural #MMIWG Panel Platica titled “Harnessing our Collective Stories #MMIWG: A Transnational Issue on May 5th featuring panel speakers who will discuss the transnational context of violence against native and indigenous women and girls, femicides, gender-based violence and the collective stories that connect the northern and southern movements. Join the Xinachtli Comadres National Colectiva, Los Angeles Indigenous People’s Alliance, KLBRI, and Justice For My Sister on May 5th, 2022. Stay tuned— The panel platica will be released on our website on May 5th.

Our Why:

As a critical part of Xinachtli Rites of Passage Human Rights/ Acción (Action) arc, we hope to bring acknowledgement to the impact of gender-based violence on native and indigenous women and girls and build awareness about the stories that have been silenced. Our goal is to bolster the network’s capacity to create visibility, awareness, advocacy, and movement building around violence against native and indigenous women and girls. We hope to engage member organizations in a virtual campaign as well as provide capacity building so that they can develop their own local actions in the next coming months.

Gratitude to hermano, David Calvillo @thundr_one for creating this artwork for our Panel Platica.
